Description:  SP 192 was built in May of 1995, as one of SPs last locomotive orders, spending just over a year in SP's control before spending the majority of its tenure in UP's hands. Shes still wears her late great owners livery untouched, after 17 years. Next to her is a 10 month old fresh UP SD70Ace, making this to me, one great looking lash up.

Caught this after planning to spend all day at Dougren, but after JUST missing Amtrak 14 before pulling into Dougren due to forgetting batteries, and chasing it to Eugene, our priorities and locations for the day were changed.

Title:  Southern Pacific Through the Blackberries
Description:  My favorite picture from this lucky day. One of the last unpatched SP warriors in 2012 leads a long repo train of boxcars that came off of the Modoc line, over flowering blackberry bushes at Junction City. This train had also picked up some other cars at Eugene by this point. This was my last time seeing an unpatched Southern Pacific locomotive lead a train.

Description:  We had been planning a trip to chemut for about week, and when we get there, theres MoW crews all over the line, great for the line, but not for the fans. Seen here are the new trilights faced outward awaiting to replace the the ex-SP Searchlights and Cantilever Bridge. Also SP C-50-9 caboose 4702 has been pulled out off the yard.

Description:  Our only train of the day due to many MoW crews all over the Cascade Sub, heads south on the 75 miles of trackage rights BNSF has on the UP's Cascade Sub, until it diverges back on to its own Gateway Sub. Note that this far south on the ex-SP Brooklyn-Cascade Sub, the searchlights dont have their trilight replacements set up yet, unlike up north on the line where searchlights are either removed, or awaiting replacement. These will probably last a bit longer than the others.

Description:  Jasper is a small town located South of Natron, and North of Fall Creek Jct., the junction of the orignal natron cutoff, that had to be taken out, by the creation of Lookout Reservoir, and the new line at the juctions from sidings Dougren-Hampton are located. The line rejoins the original line just after crossing the Willamette River Trestle South of Hampton.

Description:  I usually take a round trip on the Amtrak Cascades once a month to visit and railfan with my brother in Vancouver, WA. This time, on my return trip #509, the last Southbounder of the night, i was very delighted to find that once i got on board, from a text message from my brother after we had just started rolling, that our power (shoving in reverse) was none other then AMTK 184 the phase IV anniversary locomotive.
