Amtrak 14.Blows Through Town, and VERY Thankfully, Passed a Failed Sabotage Attempt |

We chased 14 from Natron to the North end of Junction City at the grade at 661.3, after highballing out of Eugene. As soon as the crossing gates were lifted we heard the Amtrak engineer report over the scanner that they had just blown through a stack of tie plates that were stacked up on the west rail, thankfully only causing a severe "jolt" through thb train, as he reported around 661.8-9. Very happy nothing bad came out of this, but i hope very badly the sociopath who put them there is caught, however unlikely that is. |

On the last day of Summer 2013, the Southbound Coast Starlight approaches the curve near MP 610 at Dougren siding. Dougren was the first siding built passed Fall Creek Jct. on the 1952 Lookout Resovuir re-alignment portion of the Natron Cutoff. Dougren was named for Douglas Green who helped pay for the new portion of SP's railroad. |

Only a few minutes after photographing train 11 at Jefferson, we ducked in at Millersburg, we were returning to albany until we heard 14 departing, so when we ducked in we could already see the blue face of AMTK 132 and heaglights, had it been a second or two later i wouldve missed this shot, and train completely. |
