Description:  Former DRGW 3129, UP 1445 has just gotten done switching Wnyerhauser, Kingsford and possibly Lehigh's Cement and heads to the Main off of the old SP Marcola/Wendlihg Branch at Mohawk Junction (28th Street). DRGW 3129 was one of the two last GP40's built for Rho Grande. 3129 and 3130 were wreck replacements and were built in 1983, 9 years after the last order of GP40-2s, and are more externally similar to the GP50. UP 9987 is ane of the few built and last remaining WP GP40-2s on UP's roster. UP 1445 has since recieved a full Union Pacific repaint.

My Sad Sight on 507
Title:  My Sad Sight on 507
Description:  UP 1445 had been serving as switching power in Springfield/Eugene in late 2010/early 2011, but with one major difference; it was wearing an amazingly well-kept up coat of DRGW paint. Someone had even taken the time to remove the nose patch. I wrongfully assumed it was still showing off it's Grande glory somewhere else along the system but that ended as I passed it in Salem on 507. It's too bad, there was really no reason for a new paint job, even though the paint was decades old, it was very hard to believe it had been out of the running around in black and gold for more then a year or two. At least it will probably be in service for many more years.
